Starting on Monday, 14 May, the number of visas that will be issued in Penang, Malaysia will just be 100 per day, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang announced.
The consulate in Penang, Malaysia has announced earlier this week some changes concerning visa application. In the announcement posted on 8 May which will take effect on 14 May, everyone is advised to bring their complete documents. Those who failed to comply will not be permitted to enter the building and those who have had their visa application rejected must not apply until the next day.
The announcement also stated that those who overstay their visas will incur a high risk of visa refusal while those who submit fake documents will be automatically be banned for one year on applying visa to enter Thailand.
If you’re applying for visa in Penang, you must fill and sign the form with your photos attached to it. You also need to present other documents such as:
– copy of passport (+ page with Malaysian immigration stamp)
– evidence of accommodation (hotel booking / house rental agreement)
– travel information (booking of air ticket leaving Thailand)
Another thing you need to be aware of is that the consulate will only accept documents written in English and/or Thai, and you financial statements must be only in Thai baht, Malaysian Ringgit, US dollars or euros.
The notice also confirmed that visa application and collection times will not be changed.
