Bangkok, Thailand – The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) exposed fake bill collectors, a modus of scammers pretending to be electric bill collectors.
According to PEA Director Sermsakool Klaikaew on Tuesday as reported by Coconuts Bangkok, some locals in Kalasin, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Petchabun, and Roi Et provinces were visited by fake bill collectors knocking on their doors and showed forged electric bills, making the unsuspecting homeowners pay the amount shown on the paper.
Everyone could be a potential victim so being aware of this modus can save you trouble.
To find out whether the bill is fake or not, PEA advised residents to check the bill whether the name and address of the owner are included. Fake bills don’t have them. The barcode of the fake bill is also in a different position compared to the real one.
If you have any queries, please call your local PEA office.
